Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are two-year programmes delivered by a consortium of universities across several European countries, with a scholarship that covers tuition, travel, installation, and a monthly allowance. For Pakistani applicants they represent one of the most generous funded routes available.
Each programme runs its own application through its own consortium. There is no single central portal, which means finding the right programmes is itself part of the work.
How selection works
Consortia select on academic record, motivation, relevance of your background to the specific curriculum, and often on the coherence of your intended mobility path between partner universities. English proficiency evidence is required, and the accepted certificates are specified.
Because the programme is genuinely mobile, the selection asks implicitly whether you can function across several institutions and countries. A file that reads as though you want a scholarship rather than this particular programme scores poorly.
Applying to several
You may apply to more than one programme, up to the limit the scheme specifies for scholarship consideration. Choose them for genuine subject fit rather than to maximise chances, because the motivation letter has to be rewritten for each and a recycled letter is visible.
Deadlines cluster in the same season and fall roughly a year before the intake.
The documents
Transcripts and degree certificates, often required with certified translation, a CV in the requested format, motivation letter, references, English certificate, and passport copy. Several consortia require documents to be uploaded in a strict naming and format convention.
Follow those conventions exactly. Administrative rejection before academic assessment is a real and entirely avoidable outcome.
If you are not selected for the scholarship
Many consortia admit self-funded students to the same programme. If the degree is the goal and the funding is not forthcoming, that route remains open and the qualification is identical.
Model whether self-funding is realistic before you apply, so an admission without a scholarship is a decision rather than a disappointment.
