The Korean student visa route is unusual in one respect that changes how you should plan it. For most applicants the university applies for a Certificate of Confirmation of Visa Issuance on your behalf, and the consulate then issues the visa against that certificate. Your relationship with the university is therefore not just academic. It is the mechanism by which your visa exists.
The two categories that matter are the degree visa for a full undergraduate or postgraduate programme and the general training visa for language study. They are not interchangeable, and switching between them once you are in the country is a formal process rather than an administrative afterthought.
Financial capacity, documented
Korea expects evidence that you can meet tuition and living costs, held in your name or a documented sponsor's, and it takes the aging of that money seriously. Statements are read for pattern, not just for the closing balance, and a deposit that appears shortly before submission attracts scrutiny in the same way it does in every other corridor we work in.
Where a Korean government or university scholarship is covering costs, the award letter substitutes for part of the evidence but rarely for all of it. Read the award terms closely: many cover tuition and a stipend but not the initial settlement costs, and the visa file is assessed on the total.
Academic documents and attestation
Your degrees and transcripts will need to be verified, and for Pakistani documents that usually means HEC attestation followed by attestation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then the Korean mission. This chain runs in sequence, each stage has its own processing time, and none of it can be compressed at the end.
Apostille and attestation requirements shift, so confirm the current chain with the mission before you begin rather than assuming last year's sequence still applies. Starting attestation late is the most common reason a Korean file misses its intake.
What the interview is looking for
Where an interview is required, the question behind the questions is coherence: does your academic history point towards this programme, does your funding story hold together, and can you explain why Korea specifically rather than any English-speaking destination. A vague answer to the last one reads as a student who chose a country because the visa looked easier.
Prepare an honest, specific answer about the programme, the department, and what you intend to do afterwards. Specificity is the whole defence.
